Information on utopia and dystopia texts written in the nineteenth century, including Samuel Butler's “Erewhon” (1871) and Sir Julius Vogel's “ Anno Domini 2000: or Women's Destiny” (1889), is presented. The demand among readers for such utopian writings in the present is examined.
