On 23 November 2011, Jenny Macklin, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) introduced three bills into federal parliament under the Gillard government's Stronger Futures policy. The bills repeal the Northern Territory National Emergency Response Act (2007), passed by the Howard government in August 2007.
