Abstract:

The increasing and growing use of torture in prisons all across the globe is discussed. There is still evidence emerging of the gross ill-treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison, even though the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, Degrading Treatment or Punishment has been signed by almost all states. So the question arises; if the occupation fails to uphold human rights then it will surely lose its declared mission of democratization.
