Abstract:
The federal government’s submission in response to the Australian Services Union’s Equal Remuneration claim before Fair Work Australia has generated a great deal of criticism for reneging on its responsibility for funding any wage rises that may flow from the case. Prime Minister Gillard responded to the criticism with a re-stated commitment to pay equity but with no practical commitment to the real issue: funding.
