Abstract:
Throughout the present depression, the worst levels of unemployment have consistently been found in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Provincial towns have sometimes shown higher levels but if one broad region can be said to typify the crisis of Australian industry, then it is that of the suburbs of Brunswick, Coburg and Broadmeadows, all of which are covered by the Federal electorate of Wills.
