Abstract:
Over recent months the Victorian government has ‘recommissioned’ key aspects of the state’s community-based mental health system. More than the usual contracting/re-contracting exercise, we are witnessing the introduction of a new structure, where community-based agencies are to provide ‘Individual client support packages’, ‘Youth residential rehabilitation’, ‘Catchment-based intake assessment’ and ‘Catchment-based planning’ within one or more of the newly defined catchment areas. The exercise has seen contracts awarded to new service providers while previously funded services have lost their funding, had their funding reduced or had their funding consolidated.
