Abstract:
Why Australia’s employment system fails the poor <br /><br /> If you believe the commentary, this year’s federal election was a battle between competing philosophical ideas about how the country ought to be governed. The Coalition persists with the belief that cutting company and high-income taxes grows the economy, with benefits flowing to all. Labor wants to spend more on education and health, funded by taxing the well off, hoping that investment in people will advance social well-being.
