Abstract:

The Stronger Futures legislation is finally scrutinised.

In 2010, I was involved in a project concerning one of the Indigenous town camps of Alice Springs. This camp had been set down in the 1970s by highly traditional people coming off their desert country to seek a base for accessing the services and opportunities offered by the town. For thirty-five years, they would shift seasonally between their country and their camp. Family members would be born, live and die at the camp, giving it sacred status.
