Abstract:

The Victorian Council of Churches’ Social Question Commission hosted an important ecumenical forum, entitled ‘Christian Perspectives on Treaty, Sovereignty and Constitutional Recognition’, in Melbourne on 9 November 2016. Speakers included Stuart McMillan, president of the Uniting Church in Australia; Ken Sumner, a Ngarrindjeri man from South Australia and Victorian state director of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC); Vicki Clark, a Mutthi Mutthi and Wemba Wemba woman, and former coordinator of the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry in Melbourne; and Adam Frogley, a Taungerong and Woi-Wurrung man from the Yarra Valley in Victoria.
