Abstract:
The life and work of Vera Brittain has again come to public notice with the recent British Film Institute preview launch of James Kent’s film of Brittain’s memoir, Testament of Youth. Highlighting the book’s enduring appeal and significance for First World War centenaries, it has sent me back to look again at the original memoir.
