Abstract:
According to long-standing tradition, the purpose of travel is to broaden the mind. Empirical evidence, however, suggests that its real function is essentially to provide ceaseless opportunities for the purchase of vast amounts of the sort of crap you wouldn’t look at twice in your home habitat.
