Abstract:

Alain Touraine is a renowned French sociologist. In the 1960s he argued that we were becoming a post-industrial society, and in the 1970s and 1980s he explored the new conflicts characterizing that type of society, indicated by the development of what he called ‘new social movements’. He is visiting Australia in July. Kevin McDonald spoke with him in Paris.
