Abstract:

Charles Jenks, Jean Baudrillard and Umberto Eco, among others, have noted that the ironic – being ironic, striking an attitude of irony, seeing the irony in affairs – is inherent to postmodern times and subjectivity. Whether it is wryly observing Las Vegas, taking your pleasure, and community, from a kinked viewing of ‘The Room’ or ‘Beauty and the Geek’, or being anything but earnest in one’s speech and relationships, there is currently a keen appreciation of irony as a practice, even project.
