Abstract:
In early May the Prime Minister announced ‘the greatest infrastructural development in Australian history’ – the roll-out of a new national broadband system. Quite apart from the role of infrastructure development in stimulating recovery, the announcement was a declaration of Australia’s way into the future, a direction with profound implications for the way future Australians would be constituted. Yes ‘constituted’, both by the changing social forms of their relations with one another and even, in the longer term, in their corporeal being.
