Abstract:
Most Palestinians contend that it does not really matter who wins an Israeli election. Labour, they argue, may be slightly less rigid than Likud, but its practice has been just as callous, and a good deal more expansionary. Moreover, the Labour face of Israel is more easily accepted in the West, and that, argue many Palestinians, makes it more difficult to focus international pressure on Israel to withdraw from the 1967-occupied territories and recognize Palestinian rights.
